Indian–Australian Collaboration. Field-tested at scale.
Himalayan Combustion Systems originated in the Himalayas — designed for real fuel and real users, tested across more than 15,000 household deployments, and now expanding internationally through institutional programs and regional partnerships.
Our story
HCS grew out of a decade of work by the team at Himalayan Rocket Stove — designing, testing, and deploying clean combustion systems across Himalayan and northern Indian communities. That field experience — 15,000+ systems, real failure patterns, real fuel conditions — is the foundation everything here is built on. HCS exists to take that hard-won knowledge to institutional scale.
In Himalayan communities where clean heat is essential for survival — not a development project — the conditions are extreme: high altitude, cold winters, variable fuel quality, and users who need reliable systems that require minimal maintenance.
What started as an engineering response to field failure has become a platform — four product generations refined over ten years, deployed across thousands of households, and now used as the technical basis for carbon-financed clean heating programs.
The collaboration between Indian field knowledge and Australian engineering process brings together what matters most: understanding of real-world operating conditions and the discipline to build systems that hold up under them.

- 10+ years of field learning in Himalayan conditions
- Gold Standard carbon-compatible — validated methodology experience
- Four product generations: EcoMini, Eco1, Eco2, Eco3
What we believe
Durability over performance claims
A system that works for five years in real use is worth more than one that performs in a test kitchen. We design for wear, misuse, variable fuel, and cold starts.
Serviceability is not optional
Systems deployed at scale must be fixable in the field. Critical parts are replaceable without specialist tools or supply chains that fail in rural areas.
Field truth over lab data
We iterate from what happens in real deployments — not from controlled combustion tests. Our improvement cycles are driven by failure patterns observed on the ground.
Scalable manufacturing with QA oversight
Volume manufacturing is only valuable if quality holds. We maintain oversight of fabrication partners and apply consistent process controls across production batches.
